Deuxième Vie: Snez's creative upcycling

When creativity and humility join hands to create something unique, it is necessary to tell their story.

Meet Snezana known as Snez and creator of the Deuxieme vie brand in Geneva.

Today I tell you a little about her story, the life of a great woman, a mother, a seamstress and daughter of a designer of wedding dresses.

Her journey in Geneva began as a seamstress in the social and ecological company Créature, founded by SOS Femmes. Already passionate about sewing, she quickly evolved and became head of the workshop taking charge of creating new prototypes.

Due to the closure of the atelier she decided to continue her work with the support of her family, and by creating her brand Deuxieme Vie, Snez works alone in her atelier, she is the seamstress, and the creator even if the family supports from a marketing and communication point of view.

In addition to being a renowned seamstress, she deeply believes in promoting the concept of Upcycling.

In a consumerist society, in which we throw away or give away clothes and objects with great ease, this woman promotes Upcycling 100 percent.

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming waste materials, useless or unwanted products into new objects perceived as of higher quality, to which an artistic or environmental value is attributed.

She gives a second life to materials that would otherwise be thrown away such as leather, fur, wool, or advertising covers.

Senz's ability is not only to recover these materials, but above all to transform them, giving them life, color and original shapes, transforming them into customizable accessories such as bags, cases, key rings, laptop cases, deck chairs, wallets, hats, etc.

Their material suppliers are festivals, tapestry companies, hospitals that have closed or even Swiss watchmaking and shipping companies .

Those who approach Deuxieme Vie, as stated by Snez, support local and eco-responsible craftsmanship, but are also good for the planet by saving materials destined to be thrown away and pollute.

Snez works with various private clients customizing their requests and also with large companies such as: SIG, the Grand Théâtre, the city of Geneva and other cities of the canton.

Deuxieme vie was chosen to create a Crowfunding on the SIG Impact platform for the improvement of electricity in their offices.

They are also chosen to have a stand on the SIG corner during the Automnales (canceled following the covid), and have also participated in various Christmas markets and festivals such as the Alternatiba festival.

It was on the occasion of the Alternatiba festival that I had the pleasure of getting to know Deuxieme vie and then going to visit their atelier.

Getting to know Mrs. Snez thrilled me, she made me feel at home, for a moment I thought I was in an atelier in Italy.

Her humility, her kindness and her ideas surprised me positively .

My advice is to take a tour and visit Snez's workshop, discover her secret and get closer to the concept of upcycling.

I am sure you will not be disappointed and after meeting her, I am not surprised that she is loved by all the neighbors.

Long live great women with great humility.
